The European Institute for Asian Studies (EIAS) hosted a Roundtable Discussion titled “Sustainable Middle Corridor: From Strategic Coordination to Bankable Implementation”, organized by Kazakhstan-EU Gateway, in collaboration with FERRMED. The discussion took place on Wednesday, 29 April 2026, from 09:30 to 14:30, at the EIAS office, Rue de la Loi 26, B-1040 Brussels, Belgium.
As the strategic importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) continues to grow, the event brought together representatives from EU institutions, financial institutions, transport and logistics companies, and stakeholders from Central Asia to discuss how political commitments can be translated into practical, investment-ready actions.
The roundtable consisted of two sessions, the first covering Green Logistics – Infrastructure & Operations and the second discussing Financing & Investment.The conversation focused on strengthening EU-Kazakhstan cooperation on connectivity, addressing infrastructure and operational bottlenecks, mobilising public and private investment, and advancing digital and sustainable logistics in line with the EU’s Global Gateway strategy.
The roundtable aims to foster dialogue between policymakers, financial actors, and industry experts, while identifying practical solutions to enhance the efficiency, resilience, and long-term development of the Middle Corridor.
