Junior Researcher

Luzi Maj Leonhardt

Luzi is a recent graduate in International Relations from Leiden University, with a specialisation in International Law. Throughout her studies, she developed a strong interest in EU foreign policy and regional dynamics in Asia, particularly in Central and East Asia. Her bachelor’s thesis examined the implications of the Rohingya refugee crisis for international legal standards in Myanmar, Bangladesh, and ASEAN contexts. In addition, she carried out research for a human rights organisation focusing on legal developments and accountability frameworks in South Asia.

Luzi Leonhardt brings to EIAS a background in legal analysis and human rights research, combined with growing expertise in regional governance and inter-regional policy frameworks. As Junior Researcher at the European Institute for Asian Studies, she aims to expand her knowledge of EU-Asia relations, with a focus on value-based connectivity, regulatory harmonisation, and cooperative governance in Central and Western Asia.
