Giacomo Vavassori

Giacomo Vavassori is an Economics graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Management from the University of Trento. After gaining some initial work experience he will pursue a master’s degree in Asian studies.

During his undergraduate studies, he focused on economic history, political economics and economic development. His bachelor’s dissertation “The South Korean Economic Miracle” analysed the economic growth of South Korea, elucidating its developmental dynamics and the intricate relationship between South Korea’s economy and state structure.

He is deeply passionate about Asia, its economic development and the implications for the reshaping of international relations. He also has a keen interest in philosophy and psychology.

At EIAS he focuses on EU-South Korea relations, with a special emphasis on the impact of the political and economic evolution of the Korean society on the EU. He also follows the ongoing developments on the Korean Peninsula between the DPRK and the ROK.
