Gabrielle Godard

Gabrielle Godard is pursuing a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy at Leiden University. Previously, she obtained a dual bachelor’s degree in History and Political Sciences from the Catholic Institute of Paris. During her undergraduate studies, she spent an exchange semester at Sophia University in Japan, immersing herself in the realms of Japanese Foreign Relations, Chinese Cultural History, and the intricate field of Religion, Conflict, and Violence Studies.

Her main research interests are centered around the Northeast Asian states, with a keen focus on the geopolitical, military, diplomatic, and cultural dimensions of the region. At the European Institute for Asian Studies, she aims to deepen her understanding of EU relations with both North and Southeast Asia, with particular emphasis on security, geopolitics, foreign affairs and the critical issue of climate change adaptation.
