Taiwan’s Outward Foreign Direct Investment (OFDI) into the European Union (December 2018)

In 2018, EIAS in cooperation with the Taipei Representative Office in the European Union, renewed a 2014 EIAS report “Taiwanese Outward Foreign Direct Investment (OFDI) into the European Union.” Split into both a quantitative and qualitative survey, this report unveils how the investment relationship between the EU and Taiwan remains underexploited, with both parties standing to benefit significantly from greater engagement. As well as outlining the current trends in the EU-Taiwan investment relationship, this report identifies both the barriers faced by Taiwanese companies hoping to invest in Europe, and the potential benefits to be gained from an improved investment relationship.
