The European Institute for Asian Studies (EIAS) and the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) of Azerbaijan, supported by key partners committed to advancing dialogue on Eurasian connectivity and economic cooperation, have the pleasure of inviting you to the Conference and Book Presentation “The Middle Corridor: Navigating Current Realities and Embracing Future Prospects”. This in-person event will be taking place on Monday, 24 November 2025 from 16:00 to 18:00 at the European Institute for Asian Studies, Rue de la Loi 26, 10th floor, B-1040 Brussels. The Event will be followed by a Networking Reception and Buffet Dinner.

The event will highlight the Middle Corridor’s role as a bridge between East and West, its importance for integrated transport and energy connectivity, and its contribution to innovation, green logistics, and infrastructure development. Participants will also gain perspectives on the geopolitical significance of the Corridor, its role in fostering cooperation on the international stage, and the potential for advancing education, research, and private sector engagement across the region. The Event will help you discover how this strategic route is reshaping transportation, logistics, and economic cooperation.

The book “The Middle Corridor: Navigating Current Realities and Embracing Future Prospects”, jointly developed by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), OECD and the CAREC Institute has been published in Romania. Authored by 22 scholars from 10 countries (Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, China, the United Kingdom, Serbia, Pakistan, Austria, Spain, and Mexico), the book was published in English by University Press Târgu Mureș, a prestigious European academic publishing house Edited by Professor Vusal Gasimli, Doctor of Economic Sciences and Executive Director of CAERC, the publication offers in-depth analyses of the Middle Corridor’s strategic significance, development dynamics, and future prospects. The authors examine the economic impact of the corridor on the countries along its route, propose more agile and efficient transport management strategies, explore the application of digital technologies and innovative approaches in logistics, and offer relevant scientific-conceptual recommendations for enhancing the corridor’s potential.

Executive Director, the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication of the Republic of Azerbaijan (CAERC)

Prof. Vusal Gasimli serves as the Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication of Azerbaijan (CAERC). As a member of the Government Commission on Business Environment, he played a role in positioning Azerbaijan among the top global reformers in the World Bank’s Doing Business rankings.

He is a graduate of executive education at Harvard Kennedy School and holds a master-level degree from the University of Oxford, where he is pursuing a Master of Science in Major Programme Management. Prof. Gasimli is an active contributor to global economic discourse, notably through his engagement with the T20-the think tank network of the G20.

His expertise has been widely recognized in international advisory roles, including as a consultant to the Asian Development Bank and contributor to projects with the European Union, World Bank, and JICA. He has delivered lectures at leading universities worldwide and was a visiting scholar at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy. As Focal Point at the UN Economic and Social Commission, he has further demonstrated his commitment to multilateral cooperation.

An accomplished academic, Prof. Gasimli is the author of 20 books and more than 500 articles on economics and public policy.
