Dear Sir/Madam/X,
The European Institute for Asian Studies (EIAS), in cooperation with the Embassy of Nepal in Brussels and Genese Solution, had the pleasure of organising the first Nepal–EU Tech Forum: Unlocking Digital Innovation and Investment.
The forum took place on 27 April 2026, from 09:00 to 17:00, at the EIAS office, Rue de la Loi 26, B-1040 Brussels, Belgium, and brought together representatives of Nepalese technology companies, policymakers, public and private sector stakeholders, investors, academics, and members of the Nepalese diaspora to explore opportunities for strengthening digital cooperation and investment between Nepal and the European Union.
Against the backdrop of Nepal’s rapidly expanding digital ecosystem and the EU’s growing focus on digital transformation, innovation, and trusted international partnerships, the forum provided a timely opportunity to exchange views on how both sides can deepen cooperation in the technology sector. Discussions highlighted Nepal’s emerging strengths, including its young and highly skilled workforce, expanding clean energy capacity, and growing digital economy, while examining how European investment, regulatory expertise, and long-term partnerships can support sustainable growth.
The session explored key themes including investor confidence and regulatory alignment, the role of artificial intelligence as a driver of innovation, the contribution of the Nepalese diaspora to knowledge exchange and entrepreneurship, and the transition from traditional outsourcing models towards strategic partnerships based on co-innovation and shared ownership.
Bringing together representatives from government, industry, academia, and the wider Nepal-EU community, the forum aimed to foster dialogue, identify opportunities for practical collaboration, and strengthen the foundations for a mutually beneficial digital partnership between Nepal and the European Union.
