The European Institute of Asian Studies, Centre for European Studies, Renmin University of China and the Institute of France Studies and the Asia-Europe Research Centre, Zhejiang University had the pleasure of organising an EU-China Briefing Seminar on “Global Governance Amidst the Great Power Game in a Multipolar Era.” The discussion took place on Friday, 31 October 2025 from 14:30 to 16:30, at the EIAS premises, located in Rue de la Loi 26, 10th Floor, B-1040 Brussels, Belgium.
The discussion centred around the current status of EU-China Relations, how Europe and China can best position themselves in the world amidst a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape and altering global governance systems, especially given an ever more withdrawing United States, and a shifting role of the United Nations and other international organisations at the multilateral stage. Focus was also be given to China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, how it will shape China’s domestic policies, as well as how it will impact China’s relations with the EU. The discussion included an interactive Q&A session, providing a platform for exchange among European experts, policymakers, and practitioners, alongside academics from Renmin University of China and Zhejiang University, some of China’s top-ranked universities..
