Viviana Demonte

Viviana is currently enrolled in the final year of her Master’s degree at the University of Trento (Italy), focusing on international relations, EU foreign policy, regionalism and EU-ASEAN relations. During her studies, she has spent a semester at the University of Melbourne (Australia) and participated in a ten-months Erasmus programme at Science Po Aix (France), where she also completed a Master course in Political studies.

During her studies, Viviana Demonte has gained hands-on understanding on Southeast Asia while collaborating for an NGO promoting gender equality, education, peace and democracy in Myanmar. She also collaborated with the Italian Embassy in Jakarta in the Commercial and financial section.

At EIAS, her research focuses mainly on EU foreign policy and in particular EU-ASEAN relations, focusing on trade, sustainability, human security and regional geopolitical dynamics, acquiring a deeper understanding of ASEAN challenges and the EU strategy for a stronger cooperation with ASEAN leaders.
