Maria Kienzle

Maria Kienzle is a recent Bachelor’s degree graduate in Liberal Arts and Sciences, an interdisciplinary individualized Bachelor’s program at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. During her studies, she primarily focused on International Relations, Security Studies, and Chinese Studies. Throughout her studies, she developed a keen interest in Sino-EU trade relations, which led her to conduct a case study on Chinese Foreign Direct Investment in the Hamburg harbor.

Additionally, she recently completed a semester abroad at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where she had access to Asia-centric courses and deepened her understanding of Chinese culture. At EIAS, Maria Kienzle’s research centers on China, its foreign policy initiatives such as the Belt and Road project, and Sino-EU collaborations in the sustainable development sector.
